The 80th Elders Mountain Calf Sales, Omeo & Benambra

March 6, 2020

Congratulations to Brendan Ah Sam and family on topping the 80th Annual Mountain Calf Sale at Omeo on Wednesday with their opening pen of ‘Strawberry Roan’ (Shorthorn/Hereford) heifers selling for an incredible $1810! Their steer portion topped the Autumn drop weaners at $1630 and their pure bred Hereford portion sold to $1610.

Bert Ah Sam, Brendan’s father, said he had never witnessed heifer prices like it during his lifetime. “I haven’t seen a lot of store sales for a while but it is certainly up there,” he said. “A lot of people are getting back into breeders and they are hard to find at the moment.”
